ONGC, the leading and one of the oldest oil and gas company of India wanted to showcase its commitment to the environment and cultural heritage.

Idea:
Transform the industrial waste into the works of art reflecting the company’s rich cultural values and social responsibilities.

Execution
ONGC collaborated with renowned sculptors and artists who designed and created larger than life sculptures at its training institute. These artists infused creativity and craftsmanship into their designs, utilising the unique characteristics of the scrap metal. These sculptures drew inspiration from Indian mythology, Samudra Manthan. Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) an event where the ocean was churned by demons and deities and several useful elements (Ratnas) were obtained from the bed of the ocean. The sculptures creatively showcased to the ocean churning activity which not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal to the institute but also inspired the employees and visitors. The unveiling of the Samudra Manthan sculptures was marked by a ceremonial inauguration attended by Honourble Prime Minister of India, ONGC officials, employees, local dignitaries, and members of the community during India Energy Week 2024.
