| Description: | This one was interesting. Creating a portal of time inside a locker room based on a tradition that is dear to many Malayali households. People who prefer storing their jewellery in bank lockers and would land up in those rooms with sarees, days before an event, to select the right jewellery. I wanted to bring this to life with the idea of a daughter growing up, watching her mother do this every time. From fascination, she grows to adore these moments, which become chores as she steps into youth, to her trying hard to not become her mother. But time plays beautiful tricks - she comes back, now the custodian of tradition. She is her mother and that’s the beauty of this relationship. This needed me to create a sense of nostalgia in the imagery and also devise a way to light the jewellery. And that thought gave birth to the image on screen, the old film, overexposed with lights to emote. As the relationship deteriorates the light in the film changes. Its slowly loses its shine. Till the same light is brought back when the daughter opens the locker. A simple thought to capture this complex relationship’s pulse. |

We become a reflection of ourselves As the day shine in turmeric colours. മിന്നും പൊന്നഴകിൻ വർണ്ണത്താൽ അണിയും The glittering beauty of yours Cloaked in vivid colours, മായുന്ന കിനവിലെ മാറുന്ന മണ്ണ് പാതകളിൽ ഒന്നും പറയാതെ എങ്ങോ നാം പോയ് മറയവെ എന്നാലും എന്തോ തമ്മിൽ നമ്മെ ചേർക്കവെ In the changing muddy paths Of the waning dreams, As we disappear Not uttering a word, Something mysterious Hold us together, still. കാലങ്ങൾ ഏറെയായ് കാദങ്ങൾ ഏറെയായ് It’s been ages and We have crossed yonders. എന്നാലും മാറാതെ നാം കൈമാറിടും മിന്നുന്നീ താരം നെഞ്ചോട് ചേർത്ത് പൊയീടാം Yet the glazing(shining) star that we share, Let’s embrace it.. |
