Description: In India’s Zaheerabad, a legend circulates: that women hesitate to get married into this town because of its problems with water. Maybe this is why the handsome Sujit cannot seem to find a bride. Enter Mahindra. This film follows the unusual chain reaction that is set off when Mahindra opens its automobile factory in Zaheerabad.

When lakhs of trees are planted for groundwater conservation and rainwater harvesting pits are constructed, water finally returns to the town, changing its fate, and changing the fate of Sujit. Kyunki ‘paani ka hee toh khel tha saara.’
English Translation: What does the number of weddings in a town have to do with an automobile factory?

It must sound like a strange question right?

Let me explain.

Thing is, years ago Mahindra didn’t just build a factory in Zaheerabad.

They planted thousands of trees and built rainwater harvesting pits, as a result of which underground water levels rose by around 400 feet.

But you must be wondering, “What does any of this have to do with weddings?”

The answer is water. Or, in this case, the lack of it, that was responsible for our man Sujith staying single for oh so long. Poor guy, out of luck.

Zaheerabad’s water situation was his biggest rival as he waited for the queen of his dreams’ arrival.

Like many others in the village, the water situation was grim. His emotions, however, already touching the brim.

What sin have I done, that I am getting this karma?

Why am I not getting married?

Why is this happening to me?

I will not get married in this lifetime.

It is said that in nearby places no one wanted their daughters to get married and settle down here, in fear of them having to suffer the severe water crisis.

But once the water problems ended here, the wedding celebrations began.

So it’s possible that somehow an automobile factory is the one that finally got Sujith married.

Congratulations Sujith! And Sreelaxmi.

It’s Mahindra’s mission to become carbon neutral by 2040. And Zaheerabad is an important step in that direction.
