Description: | This radio spot plays on the ever-present bias of humans versus other species. With rising cases of animal abuse through the pandemic, World For All Animal Care and Adoptions decided to tell a story with a surprising reveal at the end. The spot talks about Sara, with the listener's own bias informing them that it's a human story, where the victim is a lady called Sara. A tale, harrowing, and all-too-familiar. But, in the end, a great twist awaits. |
English Translation: | Tony and Sara lived together. They loved each other. But along the way, Tony changed. He became indifferent. He started drinking heavily and would come home late, pissed drunk. He would get abusive with Sara. There were days he would get violent and beat her up. One night it all went out of hand. Tony beat up Sara so badly that she started screaming. The neighbours turned a deaf ear. Sara was so badly hurt that she bled profusely. She was pregnant. Tony knew but he didn't care. Sara bled for three straight days lying on the floor. Tony didn't call for help. On the fourth day, Sara passed away. He then took her body to the backyard and quietly buried it there. Maybe it was Sara's fault that she wasn't human. She was, after all, just a dog. (SFX to highlight the point) MVO: Domestic violence isn't always between a man & a woman. If you know of any animal being harmed call the police, dial 100. Issued in the public interest by World For All Animal Care and Adoptions. |
